A Chinese American passenger has been arrested and placed under FBI investigation for vandalism as well as assaulting and threatening a flight attendant onboard an airplane flying from China to the U.S., according to Guangzhou Daily.
Claiming his seat had been taken, the unnamed passenger repeatedly pushed and swore at a male flight attendant at 2:40 a.m. (Beijing time) while most other passengers were asleep. The incident happened on a China Southern Airlines' A380 airplane flying from Guangzhou to Los Angeles last Saturday.
The passenger kicked out at the attendant, who was trying to avoid a confrontation. The former became even more upset when other passengers tried to calm him down by saying his seat had not been taken. He claimed he knew the crew's hotel in LA and would seek further revenge. He also said he wished the attendant to be the victim of a car accident on LA's busy roads.
The captain gave the passenger a warning and called the police while crew kept a close eye on him for the remainder of the flight.
U.S. police arrested the passenger after the airplane landed in LA. The case is deemed to be serious and has been transferred to the FBI for further monitoring.
