BEIJING, July 14 -- A senior Communist Party of China(CPC) official on Tuesday advised theaters that their plays should resonate with the masses.
Liu Qibao, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, urged those involved in the arts to draw upon the day-to-day experiences of the public.
Liu, who is also head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks in a speech delivered at the Eight National Congress of the China Theater Association, which opened on Tuesday.
He told those involved in the performing arts that productions should be a bastion of socialist core values.
The official said new life should be injected into the field of dramatic arts by improving repertoires and performance.
Liu added that reform measures and increased support would also help to create a favorable environment for the development of the arts.
