Russia’s Northern Fleet will provide support to Chinese Yacht named “Qingdao-China” on its way to exploring the Arctic and setting records, according to Russian News Agency.
This exploration trip started by China is to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.
The route of the yacht is mainly on the ice-free seas of the Arctic and within the Northern Fleet’s responsibility zone. It sails from Murmansk to Providence Bay in the Bering Sea, off the Southeast coast of the Chukotka Peninsula. The final destination of the yacht will be in Qingdao city of East China’s Shandong province.
According to Russian News Agency, the Northern Fleet will provide the yacht with navigational, hydrometeorological, and hydrological information.
The yacht sees international crew members of six, including a Chinese captain, two Germans, two French, and one Russian.
