PARIS, Nov. 14 -- The Chinese embassy in Paris issued a security alert late Friday after multiple bombing and gun attacks killed at least 140 people earlier in the day here.
The embassy asked Chinese nationals in France to stay indoors and pay close attention to police information and local media reports about the incidents.
The embassy also urged the Chinese to follow police instructions in case of a security or identity check.
The embassy also offered emergency numbers. In the event of an emergency, please dial the appropriate number: French Police 17 or 197, Center for Consular Assistance and Protection of the Chinese Embassy in Paris 0033-615742537, and the consular protection hotline of the Foreign Ministry of China 0086-10-12308, the embassy said.
French President Francois Hollande declared a state of emergency soon after the attacks. The French government raised the anti-terrorism alert to the highest level and deployed thousands of additional security forces across the country.
According to local media reports, French anti-terrorist forces have killed four suspected attackers in a siege of a concert hall, where dozens had been held hostages.
