
BEIJING, Nov. 23 -- An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale jolted Peru at 6:50 a.m. Beijing time on Wednesday.
The epicenter was monitored at 10.0 degrees south latitude and 71.0 degrees west longitude. The quake struck at a depth of 610 kilometers, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
Earlier CENC report said a 7.5-magnitude quake with a depth of 600 km jolted Peru at 6:45 a.m. Beijing time. The epicenter was monitored at 10.6 degrees south latitude and 70.9 degrees west longitude.
