"Every couple who want to hold the wedding in our restaurant must sign a commitment for never divorcing," a restaurant in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan province has announced recently.
The boss of the restaurant said that the rule is made not for publicity. He really thinks that today's marriages in China need serious commitment and social supervision. "We want to become the first restaurant in China which only provides a wedding banquet for those who give their promise for life."
The first couple who accepted the commitment held the wedding ceremony in the restaurant on Nov. 29. The words-"I want to promise for the marriage, a guarantee to my family: I will only marry one time and love one person in my life." - are written on a wall in the restaurant. The couple swear in front of the invitees and sign the commitment.
The couple said that they couldn't understand the rule at first. Making a marriage commitment is natural for them, however it's weird to make it because of the restaurant. They accepted it eventually as they really want to spend the life together and it would be meaningful for them to become the first couple to have signed the lifelong commitment in the restaurant.
