Aircraft in active duty of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force and naval aviation troops have been equipped with a new generation of flight data recorder with strong destroy-resistance, according to a report on official website of the PLA Air Force.
The new generation of flight data recorder will be widely used in civilian aviation and relevant fields in industrial sectors, the report said.
The performance of civilian and military aircraft has seen great improvement in recent years but the upgrade rate of flight data recorder is much slower. Destroy-resistance ability is even a main bottle neck for upgrading.
To tackle this problem, a research institute from the PLA Air Force and relevant research departments spent three years producing the new type of flight data recorder whose destroy-resistance ability is 1.5 times higher than the previous one.
A flight recorder, also known as a black box, is an electronic recording device placed in an aircraft for the purpose of facilitating the investigation of aviation accidents and incidents.
