JERUSALEM, Jan. 13 -- The Israel Air Force (IAF) attacked "a terror cell" that was planting explosives in the northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning, the army said in a statement.
The Palestinian sources reported 1 killed, at least 3 were wounded in the attack, according to Israeli media report.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in the statement that earlier on Wednesday, in a joint operation with the Israel Securities Authority, an IAF aircraft targeted "a terror cell plotting to detonate an explosive device against IDF forces stationed along the border of the Northern Gaza Strip."
"Forces guarding the Border with Gaza face a growing threat from hostile terror groups attempting to destabilize the situation on the ground," IDF Spokesman Peter Lerner said, adding that "The IDF will continue to protect the residence of Israel and the forces guarding them on the borders."
Israeli farmers were instructed not to come near the border fence in light of the possibility of retaliation from the Strip.
