A map drawn by a netizen to show the areas where people should wear the ‘cotton-padded trousers’ went viral online recently. The netizen explained that people living in the dark blue area should wear the trousers as thick as they could. And people who live in the tiny orange area in the southernmost region could put on the shorts and show off the selfies online.
Most parts of China have experienced a rapid drop in temperatures along with snow and rain this week. The cold will disrupt travel for the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on Feb. 8, 2016. The National Meteorological Center (NMC) said temperatures will drop sharply in northwestern, northern and northeastern China, with temperatures in some areas down by up to 14 degrees Celsius.
Cold air moving south will bring heavy snow to regions along the Yangtze River from Wednesday to Saturday, with a forecast of up to 30 millimeters of snow in some areas, the NMC said.
Internet users have called the cold front a "bossy cold wave" for its strength and reach.
