A new hunt-class minesweeper named Rongcheng, designed and made by China, begun service in the People’s Liberation Army on Monday in Dalian city, northeast China’s Liaoning Province. A naming and flag-giving ceremony was held the same day.

The mothership of the warship has a displacement of 600 tons and three 100-ton remote control minesweepers. It is also equipped with a mine-hunting and mine-sweeping system.

Besides functioning as a minesweeper, the ship will also carry out operations such as exploring the seabed and escorting ships.
