A section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has opened to traffic.
The section links north Hengqin interchange with Hongwan interchange, allowing vehicles to get in and out of the Hengqin area of the Guangdong Free Trade Zone with shorter period of time.
Li Jian, is a senior engineer responsible for the construction of the section:
"The connection line of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge starts from an artificial island in the Zhuhai-Macao port and ends at Hongwan, via the Gongbei Port and through Qianshanhe big bridge and Jiangjunshan, totaling 13.4 kilometers. The section now opened to traffic is 3.3 kilometers from north Hengqin interchange to Hongwan interchange. It's at the end of the connection line,"
After completion, the bridge will cut travel time from Hong Kong to Zhuhai from three hours to half an hour.
