
WELLINGTON, Feb. 14 -- A 5.8-magnitude earthquake jolted New Zealand's city of Christchurch on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake, which occurred at 0013 GMT, was centered 17 km east of the city at a relatively shallow depth of 8.23 km.
There were no immediate reports of serious damage.
The latest quake struck a week before the 5th anniversary of a 6.3-magnitude temblor in Christchurch on Feb. 22, 2011, which killed 185 in one of New Zealand's deadliest disasters.
