A female volleyball player gave birth to a baby girl during the U18 National Youth Women's Volleyball Championship held in Changxing, in eastern China's Zhejiang province, on Wednesday. After giving birth, she left the baby in the tree lawn near the Changxing Sports Center, where the volleyball competition was held.

A citizen named Wang found the newborn baby and immediately reported it to the police. According to Mr. Wang, he first saw bloodstain on the ground. When he followed the bloodstain, he found its owner, the young volleyball player. There was more blood at her feet. "She was resting near the courtside. She looked fine after giving birth. I assumed that she must have a strong body to give birth to a baby during the match," said Wang.

Later, the baby girl and her mother were both sent to the People's Hospital in Changxing County. About an hour later, the doctor announced that the baby girl and mother were both safe and healthy.

A total of 16 teams from across the country participated in the U18 National Youth Women's Volleyball Championship. According to the championship rules, only players born after 1998 are eligible, meaning the young mother is likely a teenager.
