Xiangyang Airport's new terminal has already had its principal part completed, and has now entered the interior decoration stage. In fact, the new terminal is expected to be brought into use at the end of 2016.
The new terminal includes 20,000 square meters of floor space and look like a big bird with its wings fully stretched. The building will be a two-story structure, with the second floor as a waiting hall with five jetways that each connect directly to an airliner. In fact, the passenger will be able to get on and off the airplane right through any of the jetways. A total of 988 glass skylights that can automatically open will be installed in its roof and walls, which will make the terminal fairly technologically advanced.
According to sources, the new terminal and related works will be carried out in accordance with standards specified for Grade A aviation ports. Xiangyang Airport will be able to handle international flights in the future.
