The latest survey released by All-Russian Public Opinion Foundation shows China is among "the friendliest states" to Russia.
The survey shows the public support for the bilateral relations is very strong, said Petrovsky, senior fellow with Institute of Far Eastern Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences.
All-Russian Public Opinion Foundation is one of the country's three leading polling agencies. It has conducted the poll "For today's Russia, which country is the friendliest one" annually since 2014.
This year's poll covers three aspects, with the first being "the most important country in economic cooperation with Russia". Up to 49 percent of respondents chose China, followed by Kazakhstan and Germany.
When asking which is "the friendliest country to Russia", 68 percent of the surveyed believed it is Belarus, 56 percent chose China and 50 percent thought it is Kazakhstan.
Responding to the third question "Which country do you want to visit most", 22 percent of the respondents selected China, ranking the first.
Petrovsky said the survey result is consistent with the cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in economic cooperation when explaining the reason why China achieved the best overall performance.
Russian respondents said China is "a rapidly growing country with powerful economic strength". "There is a great potential for cooperation with China" and "We have close economic ties with China and large-scale bilateral trade”.
