The police force in Shenzhen was recently equipped with weapon kits in sword-like packages, attracting quite a bit of attention from the public.

The kit contains a club, a pair of handcuffs and a tear gas spray. The extra-long club is made of a titanium alloy that is both extremely strong and flexible. Its enhanced length expands the radius of an officer's defence, and it can also withstand attacks by steel tubes and broadswords. The handcuffs and tear gas round out the kit, equipping officers to deal with a wide variety of situations.

With the kit slung over their shoulders, police can respond much faster to close-proximity attacks. Compared with traditional equipment, the new kit is more flexible, and its design may even act as a deterrent to potential criminals. Netizens joked about the costume-like appearance of the kits, but there's no doubt that the weapons inside are serious business.
