
CHANGSHA, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Five people were injured and three more remain missing when a bridge under construction collapsed in central China.
At around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the Xiufengmiao Bridge in Hunan's Daoxian County suddenly collapsed. Of the eight workers on the bridge at the time, three fell into the river and remain unaccounted for. Of the injured, three are receiving treatment in hospital, while the other two only sustained minor injuries.
A search and rescue operation is underway.
Police have detained two people while they investigate the cause of the collapse.
