

Another Hainan gibbon was born at a national reserve on Oct. 9. The baby gibbon was found cuddled near its mother. At present, there are just four populations of Hainan gibbons in the world, totaling 27 gibbons. This is the second gibbon born in Population C this year.
Hainan gibbons are “Key Wild Animals" under the highest grade of national protection. They can be found only in Hainan. According to staff at the Bawang National Reserve, where the latest gibbon was born, they discovered the pregnancy several months ago. Since then, caretakers increased their rounds to more carefully observe the population.
