On Nov. 19, a car accident occurred in Langfang, Hebei province, when volunteers attempted to stop a truck transporting dogs. Three volunteers were injured as a result.
A woman surnamed Zhang said that the volunteers involved were trying to find her lost dog. They attempted to stop the truck since they suspected it was involved in illegal dog trafficking.
Zhang added that she found over 500 dogs in the car after the accident took place, including her own dog. An officer with the Langcang Highway Traffic Police said the accident is currently under investigation.
Another report stated that the volunteers first tried calling the police, but did not receive a response. They were then repelled when they tried to stop the truck themselves. The truck had reportedly been engaged in illegal dog trafficking for a long time.
