In the evening of Dec. 14, drivers rushed to gas stations to fill up before oil prices jumped the next day. The prices of gasoline and diesel fuel will increase by 435 RMB and 420 RMB per ton respectively, according to the National Development and Reform Commission. The hike sets a record high for the past four years. Influenced by this surge in oil prices, the cost of driving will also go up for consumers and private car owners, who will now pay an extra 17 RMB per tank of gas.
