A female tourist surnamed Dong claimed on microblogging website Weibo that she was beaten by a dozen men while eating barbecue at a restaurant in Lijiang, Yunnan province. Her story quickly became an internet sensation.
The Public Security Bureau of Lijiang announced that it has created a special group for investigation of the malicious assault after coming across the message. According to the post, written by Dong, she and two of her friends were beaten by the men while dining at a restaurant last November.
