Recently the Office of the Leading Group on the Comprehensive Rural Reform of Hubei Province has made public Hubei's 262 pilot villages for beautiful village construction in 2017. Xiangyang has 23 villages on the list.
The General Office of the People's Government of Hubei Province released the guiding opinion on beautiful village construction in August 2016, expressly proposing to preferentially support 300 to 500 villages in pilot beautiful livable village construction every year from 2016. By late 2020, some 2,000 model beautiful livable villages will be built up in Hubei.
