On March 25, several finless porpoises in Jiangxi province were moved from Poyang Lake to the Hewang Temple Finless Porpoise Protection Zone on the border of Hubei province and Hunan province. Given its favorable environment, Poyang Lake is home to more than 450 finless porpoises, almost half the entire population. Several have been moved since the Ministry of Agriculture launched its finless porpoise transportation project on March 15, aimed at strengthening the animal's protection.
