On March 19, 82-year-old Xiangyang painter Yan Yongyuan, taking him three years, completed the 30-meter-long masterpiece named “Monarch Yao Gorge Painting”, which is on the background of Monarch Yao Gorge, Yaozhihe Village, Xiangyang.
This magnificent, majestic scenery picture scroll contains four themes of spring, summer, autumn and winter, with no repeated landscape in each season. Lush green leaves and red flowers adorn mountains in the spring; trees are green and luxuriant, and clouds are thick in the summer; the clouds are pale, a light breeze is blowing, and mountains and forests are all tinged in the autumn; and snow gleams white, and it is quiet, solemn and respectful in the winter.
Mr. Yan Yongyuan has lived as an artist for 63 years since 1954.
