As of June 3, the rebuilding of Xiangyang Lecture Hall has started.
Located at the junction of Xiangcheng South Street and Xiangfan Boulevard, Shengli Street Farmers’ Market was the seat of the lecture hall founded by Liu Biao, the highest-ranking official of Jingzhou during the Three Kingdoms Period. Later on, the hall attracted Sima Hui, Song Zhong and other learned scholars to lecture there, leading to the formation of Jingzhou School, a transitional school in Chinese academic history which has cultivated many pragmatic talents, such as Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong.
The reconstruction will add to Xiangyang’s historic and humanistic appeal.
