BEIJING, June 22 -- Direct investment of Beijing enterprises in 31 countries along the Belt and Road totaled about 1.5 billion U.S. dollars from 2013 to 2016, according to Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce on Thursday.
The investment was mainly in the commercial services, manufacturing and construction, said Yan Ligang of the commission.
The bilateral trade volume between Beijing and countries along Belt and Road from 2013 to 2016 reached 489 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for over 30 percent of Beijing's total volume of foreign trade during the period.
Beijing is actively participating in the construction of the Belt and Road, which can become a new engine of its export-oriented economic development, Yan said.
