At least 13 people were killed and 175 others were injured after a magnitude-7.0 earthquake jolted Jiuzhaigou County in southwestern China's Sichuan Province late Tuesday, according to Jiuzhaigou's Office of Emergency Services.

A total of 31,500 tourists have been evacuated and local authorities have set up emergency shelters at Zhangzha Town, Sheraton Jiuzhaigou Resort and Moon Valley (Yueliangwan).

Over 770 aftershocks were detected in the area as rescue and relief work is still underway.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday called for all-out efforts for relief and rescue work.
