A Chinese rescue team evacuated Chinese nationals from the Caribbean island nation of Dominica after tropical storm Maria hit the area on Sept. 19, even though the U.S. army was evacuating people from the area due to the severe situation.

Category 5 Hurricane Maria made its way through the Caribbean at a speed of 260 kilometers per hour, smashing buildings and causing floods.

The overseas rescue team of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) rented a ship and purchased emergency supplies to evacuate Chinese nationals from the area on Sept. 21, as the island’s airport has been paralyzed by the storm.
At present, a total of 158 Chinese have been evacuated, and 225 CRCC employees are waiting for a second evacuation.
