A Chinese manufacturer in Guizhou province, specializing in toilet seat production, has created great sales numbers overseas, such as in the US and Europe, by embracing environmental-friendly materials, personalized designs, and price advantage. The Tecno-branded cell phone has also been welcomed by African users, which has taken 40% of market share on the continent, surpassing Apple and Samsung.
The secret recipe of these Chinese brands is as simple as this: Focusing on the demand of local people. The toilet seat manufacturer designed over 5000 types of artistic graphic covers to attract European consumers; whereas in the US, it produced a seat with two nested circles, which can cater to both children and adults, to attract American consumers who are fond of simple and practical designs. This single product has brought a profit of $4.5 million (¥30 million ) to the firm. The Tecno phone has designed phone prototypes that enable high-quality selfies and larger speaker volume, which are essential features loved by African users.

Although it is not a prevailing phenomenon that Chinese enterprises have truly succeeded in oversea markets, it is still remarkable for them to earn a place in some competitive and saturated areas using specialized products. We are pursuing quality and coverage at the same time. It is within our imagination that Chinese enterprises will go further with technology and creative design in the future.
