
Around 1,000 government officials and senior business executives will attend the 2017 Fortune Global Forum, which will open Wednesday in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Johnson and Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky, Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company Bill Ford, Chairman and CEO of Tencent Holdings Ma Huateng, Alibaba Group Chairman Jack Ma, and Lenovo Chairman Yang Yuanqing are among the participants expected to attend the forum, according to a press conference held on Sunday.
By the end of November, 388 companies have confirmed that they will attend the event. Among them, 152 are in the world’s top 500 and 72 are leading enterprises in their industry.
The number of enterprises and individuals will hit a record high, according to Cai Chaolin, executive committee director of the Guangzhou Fortune Global Forum.
Under theme of “Openness and Innovation: Shaping the Global Economy,” the government officials and business executives will gather to exchange views and discuss development and cooperation in the scientific innovation.
The forum will promote China’s participation in global economic governance. Guangzhou will take its development as an instance to inject wisdom into the forum, and share its experience with attendees from across the globe.
During the forum, mayors of major cities across the globe will share governance experience and deepen interaction and cooperation with business leaders.
The Fortune Global Forum is a famous brand launched by the Fortune Magazine in 1995. It has been held 14 times to date. The Forum convenes world leaders, heads of global businesses, presidents, CEOs, and senior managers from different cities across the globe to discuss global economic issues.
The Forum is a platform that offers the clearest and most direct insights into global economy. It has been held in China for four times, witnessing the country’s latest achievements in reform and opening up and modernization.
