On December 19th, China Southern Airlines officially opened a barrier-free website so that visually impaired people can log into its website and buy air tickets independently. Under voice prompters, they can ‘read’ flight information and complete purchase within 5 minutes. China Southern Airlines is the first airlines that launched a barrier-free website among all the members of Civil Aviation Administration of China.
To facilitate the visually impaired people, China Southern Airlines sets the entry of the barrier-free website on the top of the official website’s home page. Through special keyboard, visually impaired people can log on to the barrier-free website by one-click. In addition, the website has also designed a variety of content-browsing tools such as cursor positioning, text size control, page color contrast, voice auxiliary function and so on.
In order to meet the special needs of passengers, there will be more new functions and services launched at the website, and the voice interaction function will also be developed at China Southern Airlines' app in the future. “In the past if I wanted to buy tickets, I had to ask others for help or by telephone, so the process was very time-consuming and troublesome. But now I can easily buy a ticket within 5 minutes, and the website design is also very customer-friendly," a visually impaired person said.
Hopefully, with the rapid development of high technology, visually impaired people can enjoy more barrier-free facilities and services in the near future.
