Photos taken on Jan. 14 show “ice flowers” bloom on stones along a creek in Altay, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. A weatherman said a sudden drop in temperature, flowing water, and relatively higher water temperatures caused the ice flowers to form. The temperatures in Altay suddenly dropped to minus 24-30 degrees Celsius on Jan 12.
