US Attorney General Jeff Sessions was interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller’s office last week, the New York Times reported on Tuesday. The interview lasted for several hours and Sessions became the first current cabinet-level official to be interviewed in the probe.
According to the US Justice Department, Secretary Sessions was interviewed to answer questions on Russia’s meddling the 2016 election and President Trump’s possible obstruction of justice.
Sessions did not tell the Senate about his meeting with the Russian ambassador to the US during the presidential campaign.When the meeting became public, Sessions recused himself from all investigations related to the 2016 election.
