

Sales of duty free goods at Haikou and Sanya airports in southernmost China’s Hainan province reached 450 million RMB during the golden week of Spring Festival holiday, Chinanews.com reported on Friday.
According to Haikou Customs statistics, over 99,000 visitors spent 450 million RMB on 493,000 pieces of goods at duty free shops in Haikou and Sanya airports, a one-third increase in numbers of customers and goods and a 25-percent rise of sales from last year.
The daily sales of duty free goods reached 70 million RMB for five consecutive days from Feb 17. Cosmetics, bags, suitcases and clothing are the favorites among the tourists, accounting for almost 70 percent of the overall sales.
Hainan is one of the hottest tourist destinations during the Spring Festival holiday, attracting millions of visitors.
All staff of Haikou Customs remained at their posts during the holiday to guarantee the smooth operation of customs clearance, ingoing and outgoing of goods, and tariffs collection, said the supervision office at Haikou Customs.
