
A massive explosion tore apart a truck carrying explosives at a construction site for an iron ore project in Benxi in northeast China's Liaoning Province on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a CCTV report, 11 people were killed and nine others injured. The injured are all being treated in hospital.
There are 25 people trapped underground at the mine site. Rescuers have made contact with some of the trapped miners, and rescue efforts are underway.
