
Zhu Tiancheng, over sixty, was a villager who lived in Hengxi Village, Maqiao Town, Baokang County, Xiangyang City. He learned hand-make drums at the age of 18. Up to now, it has been 46 years, during which Zhu Tiancheng has made more than 800 drums. Zhu Tiancheng now is a famous drum-maker to all his locally.

“Nowadays, I make about 20 drums each year, with the limitation of quantity, I could not only ensure the quality but also enjoy the fun.” said Zhu Tiancheng.
At present, his wife and three children have taken part into drum-making, of which Zhu Shixiong, his third son has become the 5th generation descendent of the traditional skill of handmade drums.
