BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- China's meteorologists renewed a yellow alert on Saturday as a heat wave persists in most parts of the country.
On Saturday, areas south of the Yangtze River, on the Jianghuai Plain and in the Sichuan Basin, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang will see temperatures reach 35-36 degrees Celsius, according to the National Meteorological Center.
Some areas may see temperatures hit 39 degrees Celsius.
The center advised people in affected regions to take precautions against heat stroke and fires, including avoiding outdoor activities.
China has a four-tier weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
