The Han River is filled with swimmers enjoying the cool every summer. On a rescue boat along the river, there is always an old man who sits quietly, stares at the surface and watches swimmers' movements.
The 68-year-old man named Wei Qifu is a retiree from the Grain Bureau of Xiangyang City. As a member of Xiangyang's volunteer rescue team for the Han River, he stayed along the river for three months in each of the past eight years. To date he has saved over 10 people.
