The eight-year-old Rottweiler currently serves in the Beijing police forces. He was found with scratches on his nose during a regular training earlier this month as he was preparing for a national police dog competition. Buffalo's trainer, Gao Yu, put a band-aid on his nose.
Later, an official account of the Ministry of Public Security posted the photo of Buffalo with the band-aid on nose on Weibo, which went viral immediately. "He is so cute! What a strong dog!" many netusers wrote, "I just want to give him a hug."
Although the band-aid has made Buffalo a big hit on the internet, the brave dog does not seem to like it. He often tries to rip it off during trainings, according to Gao Yu. "For Buffalo, a scratch is basically nothing," said Gao.
Having been a police dog for eight years, Buffalo has participated in many important security guarding and patrol missions.
He also had a stint on the silver screen, where he acted as himself in a television show which tells the story between a group of policewomen and their police dogs.
