BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's top anti-graft authority said 10,295 party members and officials were punished for breaching the Party's frugality code in November.

They were involved in 7,249 cases, according to a statement on the website of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.

Awarding an unauthorized allowance or bonus was the most common misdemeanor, followed by giving or accepting gifts or money and using public funds for banquets.

A total of 78,804 officials involved in 55,705 cases were punished in the first eleven months of 2018, the statement said.

The CPC released its eight-point rules in late 2012 to reduce undesirable work practices and maintain ties with the people, which include requirements on frugality.
