The launching ceremony of the Happy Chinese New Year program was held in China's capital, Beijing, on Jan. 16. Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Luo Shugang declared the opening of the global activity.
During the ceremony, Luo revealed that more than 1,500 cultural activities are expected to take place in 396 cities in 133 countries and regions during the upcoming Spring Festival.
Meanwhile, more than 30 types of cultural events, including exhibitions, art performances, parades, fairs, forums, and folk art classes will be scheduled.
The integration of culture and tourism is a highlight of the program, as a wide range of cultural experience and tourism promotion activities will be unveiled, to help turn the Chinese New Year into a global festival.
The global cultural program will be held under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It will emphasize improved quality and efficacy, and promote integrative development of tourism and culture.
The activities will also demonstrate Spring Festival culture, tell Chinese stories, enhance the global understanding of China and create a profound environment for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
