China's world champion Su Bingtian outclassed the men's 60m field to win in a season's best world-leading 6.47 seconds at the IAAF World Indoor Tour meeting in Birmingham on Saturday.

The 29-year-old Chinese sprinter produced the third-fastest clocking of his career to win, beating Britain's European 100m silver medalist Reece Prescod. U.S. sprinter Mike Rodgers was third in a season's best of 6.54.

It was Su's second victory following his season-opening win in Athlone, Ireland, where he finished in 6.53 seconds.

"I like the fans here. They love athletics and the atmosphere is absolutely thrilling," Su said.

"Before I arrived here, I did not set a target. I try to clock 6.48 in Ireland and now it turns to 6.47 seconds. I am happy for that."

Su, who broke the Asian record with a time of 6.47 seconds in last years' IAAF World Indoor Tour in Karlsruhe, Germany, secures a leading role in 60m indoor tournament in Asia.

As the first Asian-born athlete to run under 10 seconds, Su claimed a silver medal in men's 60 meters final with a personal's best of 6.42 seconds at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in March 2018, becoming the first male Chinese sprinter to win a global medal in an individual event.

In another thrilling duel between two young Ethiopian stars, the World Indoor 1500 champion Samuel Tefera clocked a 3:31.04 seconds to break Morocco sprinter Hicham El Guerrouj's 22-year-old world record of 3:31.18.
