Melbourne, March 11 (People’s Daily Online/ Shengyin Li) - An unidentified man has died after being shot on Springvale Road in Melbourne, Australia on March 10. The Springvale victim is the fifth man to have died from gunfire in Melbourne over a period of 10 days.
Ambulance crews were called to Springvale Road around 11.50 pm after locals reported a single gunshot, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the shooting at a property in Melbourne suburb Dandenong around 11.20 am on March 11.
Victoria Police believe the suspect and victim knew each other, and have confirmed that there is no further threat to the community.
Investigators can confirm the Springvale shooting is not related to the three previous attacks in early March which caused four fatal deaths in three different suburbs of Melbourne - Kensington, Meadow Heights, and Dandenong.
Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Michael Frewen stressed that Victorian police had placed many police resources from Homicide, Organised Crime, and Serious Crime divisions on each of the investigations.
Frewen also expressed concerns about the number of firearms in the Melbourne community.
