An expected 68.2 million railway trips will take place in China from April 30 to May 4, an increase of 6.73 million year-on-year, with an average of 13.64 million passengers per day, or an increase of 10.9 percent.
China Railway Corporation, operator of the country’s rail network, will go to all lengths to ensure safe and convenient travel for passengers during the International Labor Day holiday.
To accommodate the four-day holiday rush, the company will add 539 pairs of high-speed trains and 156.5 pairs of ordinary trains.
As more tourist cities in China now have access to high-speed rail, traveling by high-speed train has become increasingly fashionable, according to the China Railway Corporation.
The company also offers 34 pairs of direct trains from some large and medium-sized cities to popular tourist cities, including Zhangjiajie, Wuyishan and Dunhuang.
