The Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations kicks off Wednesday in Beijing. The People's Daily app has created a video "Splendor shines through Asian civilizations" to show off the charm of Asian cultures.

Civilizations become richer and more colorful with exchanges and mutual learning. Over the course of history along the Yellow, Yangtze, Indus, Ganges, Euphrates and Tigris rivers as well as in Southeast Asia, ancient civilizations were nurtured and thrived, each adding its own splendor to the progress of human civilization.

Today, Asia has maintained its distinct diversity. All the civilizations, ethnic groups and religions meet and interact, making up a big Asian family. More exchanges and dialogues are needed among civilizations so that each could draw on each others strengths and all could thrive and prosper together by way of mutual learning and common development.
