
BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- An article by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, entitled "Deepening Understanding of the New Vision of Development," was published Thursday in the 10th issue of the Qiushi Journal this year.
The article by Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, underscores devoting great efforts to implement the innovation-driven development strategy.
"We must base our development on innovation, cultivate new impetus for development through innovation, and create development models that give full play to our first-mover advantages," the article reads.
It underlines promoting coordinated development of different regions, urban and rural areas, as well as both material and cultural and ethical advancement.
Greater efforts should be made to promote the harmonious coexistence between man and nature, with the country's policies for conserving resources and protecting the environment to be well observed to promote a green development model and lifestyle, it says.
The article places emphasis on the establishment of a new system for opening up and the improvement of the quality and level of opening up, noting that efforts must be made to follow the trend of economic globalization and make full use of the advanced scientific and technological achievements and management experiences of human society.
The article further stresses commitment to the people-centered philosophy of development.
