GUIYANG, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Yuan Renguo, former chairman of Kweichow Moutai Group, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and public office for multiple offenses including graft and hindering official investigations.

Yuan severely violated political discipline and used Moutai liquor as a means to ingratiate himself with others and seek benefits, said a statement issued by the CPC Guizhou Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection on Wednesday.

Yuan repeatedly provided convenience for illegal dealers to trade Moutai, which severely damaged the business environment of the leading Chinese liquor brand, according to the statement.

Yuan was also found to have hindered investigations by transferring illegal gains and colluding with others, violated organizational discipline by untruthfully reporting personal matters, and illegally obtained huge benefits by engaging in illegal operations.

The Guizhou anti-graft body also accused Yuan of trading power for sex, benefiting others by taking advantage of his post, and accepting a large amount of money and gifts.

As a senior CPC official and head of a key state-owned enterprise, Yuan showed no signs of self-discipline, even after the 18th CPC National Congress in late 2012 when the anti-corruption campaign was launched, the statement said.

Upon approval by CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, Yuan has been expelled from the CPC and sacked from public posts.

Yuan's case has been transferred to judicial organs.
