
BEIJING, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Fijian Minister for Foreign Affairs Inia Seruiratu Tuesday in Beijing.
"China attaches great importance to relations with Fiji," said Wang, adding that his country stands ready to enhance the synergy of development strategies with Fiji to jointly facilitate Belt and Road cooperation in line with the principle of consultation and collaboration for shared benefits, and make joint efforts to safeguard free trade and multilateralism.
Wang said China pursues no private interest or so-called "sphere of influence" in Pacific island countries, and is ready to enhance communication and cooperation with Fiji and other Pacific island countries to achieve common development and prosperity.
Seruiratu expressed Fiji's gratitude to China for its aid and said Fiji is willing to enhance all-round cooperation with China to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a higher level.
