
BEIJING, June 11 (Xinhua) -- The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, kicked off the first training class for its members from ethnic minority groups and religious circles Tuesday in Beijing.
Bater, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, emphasized the responsibilities of the CPPCC National Committee members of ethnic minority groups and religious circles at the opening ceremony.
He called on the national political advisors to participate in the building and practices of consultative democracy, improve their representativeness and influence among the people of ethnic minority groups and religious believers, and work hard to consolidate ethnic unity, and promote religious and social harmony.
Bater also encouraged them to make suggestions and contribute efforts to win the battle against poverty in ethnic regions.
