Three infrared cameras located in Huanglong National Nature Reserve in southwest China’s Sichuan province, took pictures of and videoed the scenes of a wild giant panda walking with her cub, Red Star News reported on June 17.
According to staff members at Huanglong National Nature Reserve, the information about giant pandas recorded by the newly retrieved cameras is the first image data on a giant panda mother and her child collected in the nature reserve.

The pictures captured by the cameras can be divided into three categories, with the first group of pictures showing the life scenes of the mother panda, the second group of pictures capturing how the cub had broken one of the cameras with its paws and teeth, and the third category recording how the cub followed the mother panda in an arrow bamboo grove, looking curious about everything around.
“Based on analysis of the recorded information, the cub was about one and a half years old,” said a staff member, disclosing that giant panda cubs usually live with their mother for a period ranging from one and a half years to two years after they are born.
